On the latest episode of *The Blindspot*, I dive into what those of us in the first world should want for people living in unfree societies—that they gain the full spectrum of human rights we enjoy in the West. I then explore the immense challenges of achieving this in practice, providing numerous examples to illustrate the complexity. We’ll discuss the essential role of leverage in effective diplomacy and emphasize that a nation must clearly define its goals in order to allocate leverage properly.
